Ross Scruggs, Ph.D.

Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Ross Scruggs grew up right here in the Birmingham area and, after a long academic journey (and probably a lot of coffee), earned his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Auburn University in 2014. Along the way, he picked up a B.S. in Psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and an M.S. from Xavier University in Cincinnati—proving he just couldn’t get enough of school.

By day, Ross works in the public sector and teaches as an adjunct professor at UAB, covering everything from Social Psychology to Advanced Personnel Psychology. Outside of consulting hours, Ross serves as the Co-Founder and COO of Compassionate Crossings, overseeing daily operations, client services, and strategic growth. His role can best be summed up as “whatever Lindsay needs,” and yes—he is happily married to our fearless CEO, Dr. Lindsay Floyd.

Ross never quite knows what kind of work (or pet) might follow Lindsay home, but he’s always up for lending a hand—and occasionally a lap—to animals in need. When he’s not working, he enjoys traveling, working out, and whitewater rafting (though not necessarily all at once).

Passionate about the mission of providing peaceful, dignified end-of-life care at home, Ross often reminds families: “It’s better to decide a week too early than a day too late.” Helping pets pass with comfort, and helping families find peace in the process, is a cause close to his heart. He lives in Hoover, AL with Lindsay and their beloved bulldog mix, Zappa—who may or may not think he’s also on the executive team.
